It is only TEN days until we join The Fostering Network and many, many others in celebrating the start of #FCF18 Foster Care Fortnight 2018. What better way to kick things off than participating in a Thunderclap. A Thunderclap is a coordinated, mass social media posting to raise awareness of a specific message to a larger audience – in our case, the transformational power of fostering!
The Fostering Network set up the ‘Foster Care Fortnight’ campaign to showcase the dedication, enthusiasm and commitment of foster carers. It provides a fantastic opportunity to push fostering to the forefront of the public mind; encouraging everyone to discuss fostering and the need for more foster carers.
With 53,420 looked-after-children and young people living with foster families in the UK and only 43,710 foster families in England, the Fostering Network estimates that fostering services need to recruit a further 7,180 foster families in the next 12 months.
We want to shout from the rooftops about how proud we are of our staff, foster families and all our young people. This is why we will be participating in this #ProudToFoster and urging you all to do the same.
Keep an eye on our social media pages below and please get involved. Even something as small as sharing one of our posts could mean so, so much and make an incredible difference.
